Something that was really important to us when we designed Surrey Family Vets was thinking about the experience from the pet’s point of view.

Going to the vets can be a strange experience for a dog or cat. There are unfamiliar smells, noises, people and, of course, other animals. Some pets take it completely in their stride, while others can find it quite stressful.

That’s why we’ve tried to make our Guildford vet practice as calm and pet-friendly as possible.

We have a separate waiting area for cats, so they can be kept apart from dogs and feel more relaxed. Our team is also trained to recognise the signs of fear and anxiety, and to give nervous animals a little more time and space rather than rushing them.

We’re really pleased that this approach has been independently recognised. We’re officially a Silver accredited Cat Friendly Clinic and an accredited Dog Friendly Clinic.

For us, though, it isn’t just about the badges. It’s about making a trip to the vets a little less stressful and, hopefully, helping our patients build a positive relationship with us over time.
