One of the things we really wanted when we opened Surrey Family Vets was to be able to offer more advanced veterinary care here in Guildford, without automatically having to send pets and their owners further afield.

Our ophthalmology service is a great example of that.

Natalia has a particular interest in veterinary ophthalmology and holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Ophthalmology (PGCertSAOphthal), giving her additional expertise in investigating and treating eye problems in dogs and cats.

Eye conditions can be uncomfortable, sometimes extremely painful, and in some cases can threaten a pet’s sight. Having the right equipment and experience available early can therefore make a real difference.

Here at the practice, Natalia is able to carry out detailed ophthalmic examinations using specialist equipment including slit lamp, indirect ophthalmoscope and tonometer to measure pressure within the eye.

We see pets with all sorts of eye problems, from persistent conjunctivitis, dry eye and corneal ulcers through to glaucoma, cataracts, eyelid problems, sudden changes in vision and more complicated or recurrent conditions.

Natalia can also perform a range of ophthalmic procedures and surgery here at Surrey Family Vets, including entropion and cherry eye surgery, eyelid mass removal and a number of corneal procedures.

For us, though, one of the biggest advantages is simply having this level of knowledge available locally.

If something is wrong with your pet’s eyes, you can have it investigated here in Guildford by someone with advanced ophthalmology training, while still benefiting from the friendly, personal approach we want Surrey Family Vets to be known for.

We also accept ophthalmology referrals from other veterinary practices across Surrey, so pets don’t need to be registered with us to see Natalia.
